The U15's Thanet Wanderers girls joined forces with Dover and Deal as the 'East Kent Viragos' to entertain the Dartfordians at the Dover Sharks ground. Dartfordians travelled all the way to Dover with 8 girls, we thank them for that. We have now amassed a collective of 22+ girls between the 3 clubs and they have all become good friends and team mates over the season so far.
We played 4 quarters of 15 minutes and rotated the Viragos girls in and out of the Dartfordians team ensuring the Dartfordian girls played in positions they were comfortable with. This allowed us to trial a few girls in new positions and allowed our girls to experience other positions which they all stepped up to brilliantly. The conditions were wet. Very very wet and muddy. Despite this we saw some great ball handling with fabulous off-loads out of the tackle and superb pick up and drives from the rucks. The tackling from all girls was the best we've seen and technically superb. We saw some great aggressive and powerful running from all the girls which is directly linked to their confidence and attitude. Their confidence was high, their enjoyment levels seemed to be sky high and i have no doubt it was a great pleasure for all parents standing in the rain.
