Senior Rugby Update - May 2024Senior Rugby Update - May 2024

The First XV signed off from Kent League One with a good win against Ashford but the same opponents terminated the Wanderers ‘ interest in the Papa John Shield two weeks later. With just three matches won it was inevitable that next year we will do battle with old foes from Folkestone and Aylesford but Vigo First XV will be new visitors to St Peters together with a reincarnated Old Elthamians side who were unbeaten in Kent 3 this season.

The Second XV has ended the season with the best league record of any of the men’s senior sides despite frequent calls on their team from the first XV. The team finished 5th in the ten team league and at Finals Day battled to a single point victory to lift the Kent Plate

The Third XV finished their fixtures with a flourish, winning three of their last five fixtures and drawing the final game with league champions Tunbridge Wells who drew level with a last minute conversion.

The Veterans XV had a wonderful result in their Kent Shield Final defeating Tunbridge Wells Veterans 31-7. It was a shame that this fixture clashed with the first XV’s Papa John’s Trophy first round match at Cranbrook. There was a good win from the firsts who included veterans Andy Letts, Danny Clement and Ed Plori in their number but the three players missed out on the trophy win on Kent Veterans’ Final Day.
